Course Description:
PRESENTER: Dr. Craig P Goldberg, DPT, DHSc, FAAOMPT
CEU: 1 Hour
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Many clinical reasoning frameworks have been proposed and evaluated in their clinical application to improve outcomes of patients with lumbo-pelvic disorders. In this course, Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment, Movement System Impairments, Treatment-Based Classification, O’Sullivan Classification System will be reviewed with an emphasis on common schemes and characteristics that guide evaluation and treatment and the evidence and limitations of such. A Mechanism-based classification of Musculoskeletal Pain is proposed as a valuable clinical reasoning strategy that can be applied to any classification approach. Clinical case examples are used to facilitate participant application of key principles and concepts.
COURSE OBJECTIVES: PART TWO
Understand and apply concepts of a Mechanism-based Classification model to assist in patient evaluation and treatment. Relate key concepts of such to the most efficacious sub-groups of the frameworks previously described.
Within the Mechanism-based Classification, review and describe Sacroiliac/Pelvic and Hip pathologies and dysfunctions as either primary sources of and/or strong contributors to a patient’s problem.
Utilize pain diagrams to help formulate clinical hypotheses within the context of a Mechanism-based Classification model.
Analyze patient case examples and apply key concepts from both the comparative frameworks and the Mechanism-based Classification model.
