Course Description:

Introduces clinicians to an alternative to manual therapies through the use of tools or instruments. This course covers the basic skills necessary to safely begin Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) techniques. Following a brief introduction to history, histology and research, one will develop a foundation of IASTM, learning basic concepts and principles. An emphasis on proper instrument use for treatment of the spine including cervical, thoracic and lumbar will be shown. A practical integration including treatment of surgical scar tissue will also be included. Target audience includes Athletic Training (ATs), Physical Therapists (PTs), Occupational Therapists (OTs) and Personal Trainers.
