Course Description:

According to the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, 70% of adults in the US have experienced some form of trauma – that’s 223.4 million people. How many of those people walk through our doors needing some sort of therapy? Do we ever consider how that trauma can impact their plan of care and what the most effective treatment would be for them? Dr. Aditi Mehra, DHS, OTR/L helps us understand and navigate Trauma Informed Care in therapy.
Dr. Mehra will cover:
•   Identify basic principles of trauma and trauma-informed approaches
•   Recognize the impact of trauma on the brain and human behavior
•   Differentiate between research-based outcomes of trauma-informed approaches across practice settings
•   Identify applications of trauma-informed approaches in therapy
