Empowering Independence through Assistive Technology

Course Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
Define assistive technology and explain how it can increase independence and skills for individuals with disabilities.
Describe different types of assistive technology available for individuals with disabilities that can support return to independence (i.e., communication devices, cognitive aids, mobility devices, etc.).
Identify barriers to implementing assistive technology into professionals’ practices and explore strategies for overcoming these barriers.
Summarize key resources and support networks available to professionals interested in implementing assistive technology into their practice.
