Course Description:

Diabetes mellitus is on the rise among older adults worldwide. Rehab professionals can be on the frontline for prevention and treatment of this life-altering disease. This course presents an overview of diabetes in adults, with a focus on older patients. It includes current treatment perspectives and guidelines, and it discusses rehab interventions and how they may impact patient outcomes. It also examines two peer-reviewed research articles that address the evidence for specific risk factors and interventions, to see how they may apply to our practices. This course will be immediately useful in clinical practice for all rehab professionals who work with older adults.
