Course Description:
Hand and wrist injuries are common in all sports and athletes. According to Rettig, 3% to 9% of all athletic injuries involve the hand and wrist. As a result, early and accurate detection of injury is critical in the management of the athlete with wrist injury, so knowledge of best-demonstrated practice with respect to which tests are most effective in the identification of common wrist pathology. In addition to prompt accurate diagnosis, another potential barrier to optimal return to play is the variance in return to play criteria. With this wide variability in returning athletes to the field, making a psychometrically determined sound choice incorporating testing, timelines of healing and assessing the athlete’s level of recovery with the specific sport demands will determine return to sport for high performance athletes.
