Course Description:

This course is recommended for physical and occupational therapists treating post-surgical wounds. It will review the phases of wound healing and how the phase of healing guides our clinical reasoning for a surgical wound. Evaluation of the wound will review how medical conditions can impact healing, how to evaluate and describe the wound, periwound, and drainage. It will describe normal findings of a surgical wound as well as abnormal findings that may need to be communicated to the physician. Treatment will describe cleansing and dressings for the surgical wound.
