Course Description:

Work Conditioning is a structured, intensive, functionally-based program aimed at increasing the work abilities of a patient to enable them to maximize their opportunity for gainful employment. Although Work Conditioning is commonly offered by Physical and Occupational Therapists, there appears to be a lack of consistent use of evidence-based best practices in program design and implementation as well as in documentation. This course will instruct participants in the current evidence regarding the evaluation of injured workers who may be appropriate for work conditioning and how to use that information to develop a plan of care based on current best evidence. Additionally, participants will be educated on basic requirements for program progression, documentation, and appropriate discharge criteria. Participants will be introduced to documentation standards and tools that can be utilized to meet those standards.
