Course Description:
The webinar has been designed to target both the sports/orthopedic clinician and the pelvic health practitioner. The content is an intentional blend of information that covers rehabilitation strategies for topics including stress urinary incontinence and pelvic floor pain related to athletes, to common orthopedic lower quarter conditions including lumbopelvic-hip pain, hip impingement, ACL injury, patellofemoral pain, and foot-ankle pathologies. A review of recent evidence will highlight some of the gaps within the delivery of exercises designed to address impairments at the hip, pelvis, and lower quarter. Topics will include contemporary thoughts concerning human movement, and how energy transference throughout the kinetic chain is crucial to the rehabilitation approach of the hip and pelvis, injury prevention, and high performance. Exercise strategies to control kinematic movements will be the main focus of the session. High quality videos will be utilized to demonstrate each of the exercises captured in real time and with the use of slow motion capture. These videos will give clinicians an opportunity to perceive human movement through a unique lens of global complexity in a simplified approach. The session will add to the general sports and ortho clinician’s understanding of the pelvic floor, and will also challenge the advanced pelvic health therapist to expand their exercise selection to integrate three-dimensional movements, offering them an arsenal of therapeutic exercises beyond simple single plane local exercises.
