Course Description:

This course will provide participants with an understanding of the diagnostic criteria for Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), a neurological condition that is not well recognized in the medical community. Participants will also learn about the common characteristics of individuals with this diagnosis. The presentation will mostly address children, because they are the focus of most of the literature, but teens and adults with this condition will also be discussed. Participants will be introduced to the Clinical Practice Guideline for DCD, written for PT’s, with consideration of the involvement of other professionals. Videos will be used to help participants better relate to individuals with this diagnosis and also show examination and intervention strategies focused on improving participation, fitness and health with these individuals.
