Course Description:
This course challenges participants to apply fundamental principles of cancer rehabilitation and rehabilitation management of breast cancer and multiple myeloma in a case-based format. In a live-virtual setting, participants will implement the patient-client management model, Dietz classification of cancer rehabilitation, and the International Classification of Function (ICF) framework to guide comprehensive patient management in the outpatient cancer rehabilitation setting. Learners will be presented with typical clinical presentations about a patient undergoing cancer surgery and a client with oncology-specific precautions undergoing chemotherapy. Active participation and discussion on evidence-based best practices in cancer rehabilitation screening, assessment, and treatment planning to optimize individuals' function, including participation in their ADLs, occupations, and community activities, will be the focus of the course. A specific focus on safety while working with clients’ prehab and postoperative cancer surgery and those experiencing cancer-related fatigue, chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, and bone metastasis is presented in this course.
