Cancer rehabilitation is a rewarding and challenging specialty area of practice that requires core rehabilitation skills applied within the context of a deep understanding of cancer, its treatments, and its effect on various body systems. This course will provide physical and occupational therapists with a foundational understanding of common cancer and treatment-related sequelae, including chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, cancer-related fatigue, oncologic emergencies, and the role of exercise and physical activity in people affected by cancer. Understanding these sequelae will provide therapists with their role within the interdisciplinary cancer care team and how they can assist patients with these challenges, support their return to essential life roles, and complete activities of daily living and occupations.
