Course Description:
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects 15% of the U.S. adult population; therefore, rehabilitation clinicians will see patients with this diagnosis in practice. Understanding the progression of CKD and its impact on function is critical to supporting patient participation and improving and maintaining functional outcomes. In this course, rehabilitation professionals will gain a foundational knowledge of the pathophysiology of CKD, medical treatment, and its impact on rehabilitation. Exercise recommendations for individuals with CKD, including those receiving dialysis, are discussed.
