Course Description:

Research indicates that an individual’s thoughts, beliefs, and coping strategies can have a profound effect on their recovery path and final outcome from a musculoskeletal disorder or injury. This instructs the learner in use of a patient centered psychologically informed approach to identify maladaptive thoughts, beliefs, and coping strategies. This approach applies a coaching model to build a strong therapeutic alliance though motivational interviewing and cognitive based strategies to modify thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors in a way that results in patient confidence, independence, functional improvement, and positive outcomes.
