Course Description:

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, January 29th 2025! This is the date for our next APTA-Kansas Day on the Hill event in Topeka. We hope to fill the Capitol with PT's, PTA's, and students to help share the value of physical therapy.

What can you expect at our 2025 Day on the Hill event? We will have some of our legislators speak to our group. We will then have time to meet with our legislators to discuss the hot topics for PT's, PTA's and our patients.

PROGRAM
• 10:45 am - Check in ** We will be meeting at the building next door to Capitol building this year ***
• 11:00 am – 12:30 hear from our lobbyists, legislators
• At the conclusion you will have have the opportunity to meet with your legislators, drop off information and introduce yourself.

Opportunities while at the Capitol:
* Capitol historic tours
* Dome tours

We have a lot of legislators in Topeka that have never met with us and now is the time for our physical therapy community to step up and share with them the benefits of what physical therapy is and what we can do.

Speaker Bio - Jennifer Caswell graduated with her master's in physical therapy from the University of Kansas Medical Center and got her DPT from Evidence in Motion. She has worked in a hospital setting in the Kansas City area, as well as a local nursing home before opening a private practice in Overland Park in 2007. She has been a member of the APTA for over 20 years. She has volunteered on several boards, including the Greater Kansas City Medical Managers Association and APTA-Kansas. She is an adjunct faculty member for St. Mary's University and Rockhurst University. She has served as the Federal Affairs Liaison for APTA-Kansas and has traveled to Washington DC numerous times to support our mission to our federal legislators. Currently, Jennifer serves as the Legislative Chair for the APTA-Kansas, working on various goals including having dry needling clarified in our Practice Act and the PT Compact.
