Course Description:
This course will provide an examination of the unique health challenges faced by military personnel and veterans, with a focus on medical rehabilitation and the biopsychosocial factors that influence their care. Attendees will explore diseases and conditions that are prevalent in this population, including combat-related injuries, psychological trauma, and service-connected illnesses. Additionally, learners will gain knowledge on health system deficiencies common in veteran populations, such as gaps in care coordination and accessibility, and challenges veterans face navigating complex healthcare systems. Understanding these issues and developing targeted rehabilitation strategies can have a significant impact on the quality of life, recovery, and reintegration into society for these individuals.
