Course Description:
Carl Meyer PT, DPT, NCS
Dizziness, unsteadiness, wooziness, lightheadedness, vertigo... There are so many ways that our patients might describe feeling dizzy or unbalanced that it can make our own world spin. With so many perceptions of symptoms, it can often be difficult to identify how to go about our evaluation process and develop an individualized treatment plan to accurately address the patient's symptoms. Often, clinicians default to basic balance exercises, hoping that it will address the underlying complaints, while often missing key (and simple!) evaluation techniques that can guide clinical decision making. Part 1 of this course will focus on structuring subjective questions and objective testing around timing and triggers of symptoms to determine the best plan of care for our patients who report dizziness to their clinician, including basic testing and treatment for common vestibular conditions. Part 2 will focus on SPECIFICITY within balance training to maximize outcomes in the home and clinic.
