Course Description:
As neurological conditions progress, gaps in legal and financial planning can quickly become barriers to care. Therapists are often the first to spot signs of cognitive or functional decline—but may not feel equipped to address the legal risks that follow.
This session empowers occupational therapists and physical therapists with foundational knowledge of estate and long-term care planning. Participants will learn the purpose and impact of key legal tools—such as powers of attorney, living wills, and Medicaid planning strategies—and how to recognize when clients may need professional legal support. By understanding these critical intersections between care and planning, providers can strengthen their role as advocates, helping clients navigate challenges with greater security and confidence—beyond the diagnosis.
