Course description:
This course summarizes artificial intelligence (AI) technology to provide attendees with a basic understanding of what it is, how it is evolving, and its increasing impact on society. It then examines how AI is being used in the healthcare sector now, and how it may be used in the future, including applications closely related to rehabilitation and function. The course includes a brief discussion of some of the concerns related to increased utilization of AI. Finally, the course will challenge attendees to consider their role, as rehabilitation professionals, in the AI revolution.
Learning Objectives: Participants will be able to-
• Define Artificial Intelligence
• Summarize the development of different types of AI including current technology and future goals
• Compare and contrast AI with human intelligence
• Identify current and developing healthcare applications for AI
• Explain the potential benefits and concerns associated with increased utilization of AI in healthcare
• Describe the potential roles for rehabilitation professionals in the AI revolution
