Course Description:
This intermediate course integrates key concepts from the Stroke 101 and 201 eLearning courses throughout this workshop and provides learners with opportunities to expand upon their knowledge of topics by engaging in discussions with experts and critically thinking through case scenario activities. The course provides an overview of multiple key factors that often lead to readmission after stroke and the integral role of utilizing a patient and family centered approach to planning care for stroke survivors. This is done through the use of a case study and collaborative, facilitated discussions among the full group of participants. The course provides detailed instructions and activities to address four key factors for improving care and long term outcomes for stroke survivors. These include interventions for addressing impairments in bowel and bladder function, functional mobility, psychosocial wellness, and communication.
