Course Description:
This introductory Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) course was developed to guide rehab staff in clinical decision making in working with patients with ventricular assistive devices at Henry Ford Health System. This course will provide an introduction to VAD, monitoring, equipment, lines, and medical concerns. Components include: Didactic training and a skills lab with practical check-off. It is expected that the treating therapist will utilize this course in addition to critical reasoning, medical record review and collaboration with medical team to determine medical stability and activity progression. This is an internal course for Henry Ford Hospital employees only.
