Course Description:
Injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) of the knee are common in sports and active lifestyles. It has been estimated that 350,000 to 400,000 ACL injuries occur annually in the United States, with approximately 300,000 undergoing surgeries to reconstruct or repair the ligament. ACL injuries are not an isolated injury; 100% will sustain a bone bruise, 47-66% will injure the meniscus, approximately 5-24% will injury another knee ligament at the time of the ACL injury. ACL reinjuries appear to be increasing, with approximately 14-35% sustaining a second ACL injury.
The purpose of this Master Class webinar is to improve outcomes following ACL injury. We will discuss and describe appropriate decision-making, a well designed individualized rehabilitation program based on the unique injury and surgery of the patient, and new proven functional return-to-play testing based on evidence-based medicine.
