Course Description:

Although abuse is a global issue, this learning activity focuses explicitly on the abuse of older adults. It will explore how insidious and prevalent this problem can be while discussing the various types of abuse that older adults may face, including physical, psychological, sexual, financial, and neglect.
Additionally, this learning activity will provide an overview of who typically perpetrates these abuses and identify populations at the highest risk of experiencing them. The abuse of older adults is a tragic and growing concern that significantly impacts both the victims and their caregivers.
This learning activity will examine how to recognize the signs of abuse, how to report it, and what it means to be a mandated reporter.
