Course Description:

Prosthetic wound care:
This portion of the presentation reviews common prosthetic-related wounds, including pressure ulcers and infections, their development, treatment, impact on prosthetic use, and guidance on when to discontinue use or refer to a wound specialist.
Prosthetic pain management:
This portion of the presentation explores post-amputation pain, including residual limb, phantom limb, and prosthetic-related pain, and reviews evidence-based medical and rehabilitative strategies for effective, multidisciplinary management to improve function and quality of life.
GLP-1: Anti-Obesity Medications for People with Limb Loss:
This portion of the presentation reviews GLP-1 receptor agonists, covering their mechanism, benefits, side effects, and prescribing patterns, with a focus on patients with limb loss and guidance for optimising use in diverse populations.

Prosthetic Patients:
This portion of the presentation covers key prosthetic principles often missing from physical therapy programs, including socket weight-bearing, skeletal control, gait mechanics, common deviations, and guidance on when to consult the prosthetist to improve treatment plans.
