Course Description:

This course consists of a 4-hour hybrid (lecture and hands-on lab) session.
Diagnostic Ultrasound (DXUS) has the potential to change the way we practice as physical therapists. The purpose of this course is to introduce clinicians to the use of diagnostic ultrasound practice. With the emergence of point of care ultrasound units (POCUS), clinicians have the opportunity to enhance their diagnostic ability through their use of ultrasound. The course will include the foundational concepts of diagnostic ultrasound, evidence surrounding its use in health care and physical therapy, and its current and future application in clinical practice. The purpose of this course is to introduce clinicians to the use of diagnostic ultrasound practice. With the emergence of point of care ultrasound units (POCUS), clinicians have the opportunity to enhance their diagnostic ability through their use of ultrasound. In part two of the course, clinicians will review and study regional anatomy of the shoulder as well as have an opportunity to practice scanning the shoulder using DXUS during the hands-on lab session.
