Course Description:
The food that we eat has a direct impact on how we feel and perform, yet no one seems to know what we should eat. Roughly 78% of American adults are overweight, 40% of children are overweight, and only 7% of Americans have good cardiometabolic health. The current recommendations for nutrition are based on flawed research studies that ignore the more effective and efficient research studies that have been conducted over the past 150 years. This course will give therapists a basic understanding of our current nutrition recommendations, and why they are not working. We will discuss what people should be eating to decrease systemic inflammation, decrease body fat, decrease diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and chronic pain, and allow people to live a better, healthier life. We will break all of the myths and misinformation that have persisted for decades and provide the ideal macronutrient breakdown for optimal health.
