Course Description:

With the continuing increase in cancer diagnosis each year, it is crucial that cancer PRIMARY prevention becomes a major intervention for all patients and physical therapists. The WHO states that up to 50% of all cancers are preventable with healthy lifestyle behaviors but sadly only 2-9% of all research dollars is being spent on cancer prevention. We believe that our profession is well positioned to take on the challenge of education and intervention to decrease the risk for cancer/cancer recurrence for every patient that is treated as well as for each therapist and their families. This presentation will provide evidence-based information and resources that participants can utilize immediately to teach their patients how to decrease the risk of cancer/cancer recurrence.
