Course Description:
This course will review acute complications related to head and neck cancer surgery which can affect multiple body systems causing impairments and highlighting rehabilitation implications in the acute care setting. The presenters will review research relevant to rehabilitation approaches after head and neck cancer surgery in addition to their own practice of evaluating and treating persons who undergo head and neck cancer surgery in the post-operative acute care setting. This information is relevant to physical therapists as persons who undergo head and neck cancer surgery can experience impairments related to multiple body systems not only present in the acute setting but across the rehab care continuum.
