Course Description:

This course is designed to equip clinical instructors with practical strategies for providing effective feedback to rehab students during their clinical rotations. Participants will explore the roles of the clinical instructor as a mentor, coach, and clinical role model. The course will cover techniques for fostering a safe and supportive learning environment, encouraging student self-reflection, and utilizing structured feedback models such as Ask-Tell-Ask-Add, Reflective Listening, GLOWS, ARCH, and 1-Minute Conversations to inform and direct student identified improvement plans. The session will conclude with a panel discussion and Q&A period, allowing for interactive dialogue and shared experiences. Effective feedback on student performance in the clinical education setting is crucial in physical therapy education as it directly impacts the development of clinical skills, professional behavior, and critical thinking abilities of students. This course addresses the unique challenges faced by clinical instructors and provides targeted strategies to enhance student learning and development guiding their growth to enable them to provide high-quality patient care.
