Course Description:
Course Description: This course will provide a gender inclusive overview of how pelvic floor function and dysfunction may influence the treatment and evaluation of patients in the orthopedic population. The clinicians will learn how to incorporate the core and pelvic floor muscles into existing orthopedic treatment programs. Evidence that orthopedic clinicians need further training in pelvic floor function
Learning Objectives:
1. Describe “The Knack” Functional pelvic bracing maneuver.
2. Identify 3 functional activities performed that have higher and lower amounts of IAP.
3. Identify 3 ways to use “The Knack” during functional activities.
4. Identify 1 technique to promote improved PF activation.
5. Explain why pelvic floor tension lengths are an important consideration for active patients.
