Course Description:
The objective of this presentation is to provide our inpatient therapists with better understanding and insight into their role in treating patients with bleeding disorders in the inpatient acute care setting. The presentation summarizes contraindications and precautions for patients with hemophilia A, hemophilia B and severe VWD and applications when providing therapy in the inpatient setting. The course will equip rehabilitation professionals with relevant information on their role in providing effective and safe care to patients with bleeding disorders and will direct them to resources they could utilize in providing patient centered care.
Learning Objectives:
1.   Describe contraindications and precautions for patients with hemophilia A, hemophilia B and severe VWD
2.   Explain the application of contraindications and precautions when providing therapy to these patients in the inpatient setting
3.   Equip professionals to access and use relevant resources effectively to care/ provide therapy for inpatients with severe bleeding
4.   Identify/Describe the role of rehabilitation professionals in the inpatient setting when treating patients with severe bleeding disorders
