Course Description:
This course will contain 3 separate presentations. Those presentations are titled Vestibular Migraine, Vision Rehabilitation: The Respective Roles of Physical and Occupational Therapy, and Vestibular Hypofunction Exercise Selection & Dosage. Vestibular Migraine will review central vestibular anatomy and physiology as related to vestibular migraine. Diagnostic criteria for vestibular migraine and clinical management of this diagnosis is also reviewed. The Vision Rehabilitation presentation will address the role of Physical Therapists in screening for oculomotor deficits. It will further highlight the role of occupational therapy in the assessment and scope skilled interventions for patients with oculomotor impairment. It will identify referral to eye care professionals, such as optometrists and Neuro ophthalmologists. The Vestibular Hypofunction presentation will detail evidence-based interventions from the 2022 Clinical Practice Guideline for individuals with this diagnosis. This course explains exercises for both unilateral and bilateral hypofunctions, with a summary of recommendations of dosage, frequency, and duration. New studies from 2020-2025 regarding vestibular rehab are included.
