Course Description:
How do you determine if a person with dementia will benefit from a mobility aid? Can they effectively learn to use it? In this course, physical and occupational therapy providers will explore the decision-making process for prescribing mobility devices, such as walkers, canes, and wheelchairs, to individuals with dementia. Using case studies, you will examine key factors like cognitive status, functional goals, and the use of standardized outcome measures to make evidence-based recommendations tailored to each patient's needs. This course teaches OTs and PTs best practices for recommending a mobility device for patients with dementia.
