Course Description:
This foundational course provides rehabilitation therapy professionals with an understanding of parkinsonian syndromes including Parkinson's disease (PD) and atypical Parkinsonian disorders (APDs) such as progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), multiple system atrophy (MSA), dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), and corticobasal ganglionic degeneration (CBGD). Learners will review the pathophysiology, common symptoms, progression, and evidence-based treatments. In-depth information about therapy treatment for each discipline is not covered in this course. This course provides occupational, physical, and speech-language pathology providers with an understanding of the presentation and treatments of Parkinson’s disease and atypical Parkinsonian disorders.
