Course Description:
This course is a live, virtual half-day event containing 4 separate presentations by AH neuro teammates, AH physicians, and nationally recognized outside presenters. These presentations will cover topics of: The keynote High Intensity Training (HIT) for Stroke and other Neurological Disorders, Evidenced Based Practice for Spasticity Management, Management of Facial Peripheral Nerve Injury, and Visual Field Loss/Inattention. The HIT presentation will review current evidence-based practice supporting intensity of interventions in UE, LE, and QOL outcomes for patients post-CVA with application strategies across all care practice settings [acute, IRP, OP] presented by an outside speaker. The Spasticity presentation will overview best practice for assessment and medical management of Spasticity from AH PMR provider with special attention to the neuromuscular benefit of dry needling from neuro rehab teammates. The peripheral facial nerve presentation will highlight the anatomy and etiology of peripheral/facial nerve impairments and provide an update on best practice recommendations for treatment from Facial Neuromuscular Retraining (FNMR) specialists. The Vision presentation will explain assessment techniques, treatment options, and clinician resources for the management of patients with visual neglect.
