Course Description:
This course provides a comprehensive overview of functional vision rehabilitation, emphasizing the visual system as isolated skills and progressing to an integrated process. Participants will explore the full spectrum of vision, including ocular structure and health, oculomotor function, and visual perception. The course reviews components of a comprehensive functional vision assessment and builds clinical understanding of common visual challenges such as oculomotor deficits, low vision, reading impairments, and sensitivities involving the dorsal stream and visual-vestibular system. Learners will gain practice, evidence-informed intervention strategies and interventions through numerous examples and application ideas. Guidance will also be provided on identifying red flags, understanding when a referral is indicated, and determining the appropriate type of eye care profession for further evaluation.
